photographic dealer and stationer, advertised from his stationery shop in Pitt Street, Sydney, that he had for sale a complete set of photographic apparatus 'comprising a very superior ΒΌ plate portrait camera and stand together with every requisite and a full supply of necessary chemicals …the purchaser receiving in addition such a course of instruction…as will make him efficient in the art’. While there is some speculation that Goold was a photographer, it is more likely he was merely an agent for a professional photographer.
