artist, visited Archdeacon John Ramsden Wollaston at Bunbury, Western Australia, in December 1843. Wollaston noted the visit, and Kemp’s profession, in his journal.

There is some speculation Kemp could be the unknown male artist who painted the charmingly detailed, undated oil on two sheets of paper The Farm of Major William Nairn near York WA , illustrated Sotheby’s Fine Australian and European Paintings November 1998, lot.94A. The only indication of its artist is as a part shadow in the foreground, but the owner Nairn (who died 1853) is known (see Australian Dictionary of Biography ).
