Phoebe Porter completed her training in gold and silversmithing and glass at the Australian National University’s School of Art. An Australia Council Emerging Artist Mentorship awarded in 2005 allowed her to work with jeweller Blanche Tilden for a three month period, and the two established their collaborative jewellery venture Studio Hacienda that year. Porter has a particular facility for computer-aided drawing, which has enabled Studio Hacienda to harness the benefits of electron wire cutting.
