The camera lucida and the solar enlarger are not the same thing. A Camera Lucida is camera lucida is a minute truncated, half-silvered prism that allows the artist to see the superimposition of the object they are drawing onto the drawing surface. A solar camera is an early form of photographic enlarger, a large, usually fixed, device using sunlight reflected through the negative, the enlarging lens and onto photo-sensitive emulsion on paper, to make positive prints. -
