Thomas A. Durnford was a painter. In 1865 he produced a life-size posthumous portrait of the bushranger Ben Hall, that included several the fatal gunshot wounds, after Hall had been shot dead by the police.

Durnford was described as a 'local artist’ and the painting was said to show several of the fatal gunshot wounds. Durnford acquired several testimonials attesting to the faithfulness of his likeness, including one from Mr W. Farrand, MP for Forbes, and another from Ann Elizabeth Hall, the bushranger’s sister-in-law.
