Vicki Varvaressos is a Sydney based artist whose early work was influenced by the urban activism of Victoria street, in Sydney's Wooloomooloo. Her distinctive painterly style came to characterise new wave feminism of the 1970s. Later her style evolved into a painterly abstraction as well as meditative portraits.

Vicki Varvaressos is one of the generation of women artists enabled by feminism in the 1970s. After a comfortable childhood in Sydney’s Bellevue Hill, the grunge of the National Art School at Darlinghurst came as a surprise.
