An abstract expressionist painter and trained pianist, Audette's work was influenced both by music and the years she spent in New York in the 1950s studying at the National Academy of Design. While in New York Audette became involved in the abstract expressionist movement and was an associate of seminal artists and writers including William de Kooning and Clement Greenberg.
