Born in the United Kingdom, Liz Shreeve later settled in Sydney. In 1972 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of New South Wales. In 1997 she received a Certificate of Drawing Fundamentals from the North Coast Institute of TAFE and in 1999 she received a Certificate IV in Fine Arts also from the North Coast Institute of TAFE. In 2005 Shreeve was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts (First Class Honours) from the National Art School, Sydney, NSW.
Shreeve uses geometry combined with paper and paint to create works that transform with shifts in light, space and movement.
In 2007 Shreeve was awarded a residency at Hill End, NSW, by the Bathurst Regional Gallery and in 2006 her work was Highly Commended at the Willoughby Art Show, NSW. She also won the Works on Paper section at the 2006 Waverly Art Prize, the Works on Paper section in the 2005 Kempsey Art Prize as well as receiving a Highly Commended in the 2005 Willoughby Art Prize. In 2004 she received the Parkers Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Painting from the National Art School, Sydney, and in 2003 Shreeve won the Works on Paper section in the Glebe Art Show. In 2002 she received the Art History and Theory Prize from the National Art School, Sydney, and in 1997 she received the Award of Excellence from the North Coast Institute of TAFE.
Shreeve’s work is represented in the collections of the Kempsey Shire Council, NSW, and major private collections.
