W. M. Stevenson, a sketcher who lived in Melbourne, had artworks in both the Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition and the Melbourne Public Library Exhibition.
sketcher, was living at 170 Lygon Street, Carlton in 1866 when he entered a crayon drawing in the Melbourne Intercolonial Exhibition. At the 1869 Melbourne Public Library Exhibition he showed two freehand studies and a sketch called Laying down the Law .
The River Yarra near Templestowe (not dated, oil on canvas, Leonard Joel November 1980), signed W. Stevenson, is possibly a later work by the same artist.
