Biography

Amy Jackett is an artist and writer currently completing her PhD in Art Theory at the University of Tasmania. Her doctoral thesis investigates the ways in which a sense of belonging is visually negotiated in imagined portraits of Australian historical figures in landscape. Amy graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania in 2008, majoring in English and Art Theory. In 2009 she was awarded first class honours for her thesis on Benjamin Duterrau’s portrayals of Aboriginal people. Amy’s research interests include Australian art, landscape painting and portraiture.
